FAQs

What is an LMFT?

An LMFT is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, trained to help individuals, couples, and families improve communication, resolve conflicts, and create healthier relationships. While the title emphasizes marriage and family, LMFTs also work with individuals on a wide range of concerns.

Who do you work with?

I work with individuals, couples, and families. Common concerns include relationship struggles, anxiety, depression, parenting challenges, life transitions, grief, and improving communication or intimacy.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure how to move forward in life or relationships, therapy can provide support, insight, and tools to create meaningful change.

What happens in the first session?

The first session is about getting to know you (or your family/couple) and understanding your goals for therapy. I’ll ask questions about what brings you in, your history, and what you’d like to achieve. Together, we’ll create a plan for moving forward.

How long are sessions and how often do we meet?

Sessions are typically 50 minutes (PACT Sessions are between 90m and 160m). Most clients start with weekly sessions, and frequency can shift as progress is made. Some may benefit from more frequent sessions during challenging times.

How do I schedule an appointment?

You can schedule online through my portal if you are using insurance, if not email me at msingh@sahava.com, or call 914-740-8126. I’ll respond within 48 hours on weekdays to set up your first appointment.
